What Are You Playing?

Anyone playing anything good, lately?
Feels like it's been AGES since a really great game came out, but I've been enjoying Lego StarWars Skywalker Saga a little bit lately.
Managed to get through episodes 1 and 4 before drifting off like I normally do, and going back to coding. But that was alright for a while.

Other than that I've mostly been doing the whole VR thing.
I gave "Tea for God" a try. Oculus | itch.io
I'm no good at standing up, especially not with a headset on. Also the room's a bit cramped, too.
Wasn't a great experience for me, but it definitely looked like it could be fun for those who can!

Minecraft on the Iphone.

I spend more time looking for games on ios and ipados than actually playing something from it. I have not found a good game there other than Minecraft.

Worldbox was something I downloaded. But I have only opened it a couple of time.

On mobile, the only games I ever enjoyed are The Room games really, nothing else really pops out... My Quest 2 is the same, I dunno what it is, PCVR, I loved Lone Echo, but, dismantled the setup for my Quest 2, and again, that's very "mobiley" in terms of games if you ask me... I sabre the beats on occasion, but when I go through the list, nothing jumps out... Even online Top 10 2022 Quest 2 games don't help, since they contain games which have been out for yonks, and even some suggestions requiring the use of a decent PC and tethering your Quest 2 via Link... Which, erm, isnt what I bought a Quest 2 for! :/

Cities VR is due out on Quest2 in a few days, though, it looks .. um.. ...
Yeah..
I also don't think I could spend long enough in VR for the time it takes to enjoy a City Builder game.

Ghostbusters has been announced for Quest2, too, and the trailer for that looks great.
I won't be playing it, either. My head won't cope!!

As per usual Super Mario Maker 2 is my main go to game, ever since it came out. I've racked up a ton of achievements, First Clears, World Records etc. My most recent endeavor was to do the "Endless Challenge" basically, start with a number of lives, get a random level and see how far you can go. I never focused on it much in the past so I was late to the Global Ranking but as of now I've got 550 in Easy, 550 in Normal, 102 in Expert and 29 in Super Expert. The Super Expert is the one I'm most proud of, with 29 levels beaten, this places me in Global Rank 411. Not only do I play a lot but I create a lot as well. Nintendo only affords the ability to upload 100 levels and I have that many out there plus 50+ more levels that are complete or in the works that I just can't upload because of the limit, which is a bummer. Might have to open another account to upload these, though I'd have to manually recreate them so maybe not.

Anyway, not really playing much else. My younger brothers get around to playing much more games than I do. So due to proximity I get to see a good number of things. Most recently Evoland 1 & 2. Pretty cool. I look forward to hopefully playing someday.

"Use the Air Link (or Virtual Desk), Luke (Dabz).... no need for cables"

Cannot me auld bean, as my kid brother now has my Win PC when I got a M1 Mac Mini, hence the Quest 2, as I am on the understanding Oculus isnt available for it.

But, in any case, one of the draws of the Quest is to be untethered, that's what it is made for, a stand-a-lone, yet, as I said, it's a bit peeving when these new lists that crop up with games that still need a setup for the Rift, and just points to me that there isnt any decent new stuff coming through for the system alone.

I have spied Ven the other day, that seems like my cup of tea, so might download that, but other then that, and I hate saying it because when VR came out I really enjoyed the immersiveness, but now, it's getting all a bit stale for me, good titles are few and far between, and if I'm honest, I use my PS1 and Megadrive more.

Oculus needs to shake itself up more or I can just see me selling my headset and using the money to pack out my retro game library more. Like I said, it's all getting a bit mobiley for me and I lost interest in mobile games yonks ago, well, apart from building one hoping it'll be the next flappy birds! lol

Well, I had myself a peek through the Oculus Quest 2 library, and, bought and played Resist...

Very trippy game all in all, and much more like it, I was spiderman... With guns!

The environment is a bit bland, I mean, the city its based in is indeed big, and I can forgive lack of detail in other area's, because half the time, your swinging about like a mental, but did duly note the advertisement boards containing oculus games, that spoilt it a little. So, yeah, I'll enjoy this one, then I'll move on to Ven, and after that... It seems, my Oculus will again gather dust while releases trickle though, and maybe, just maybe... One of them might take my fancy!

Since you havent got a PC to play PCVR games, yeah you are going to be limited to the "mobile" Quest only games, but there are some great ones out there:

* Echo Arena (mute the kids )
* The Walking Dead: Saint and Sinners
* Thrill of the Fight
* RE 4
* Eleven Table Tennis
* Walkabout Mini Golf
* I Expect You to Die 1 and 2
* Moss
* Robo Recall
* Beat Saber
* Red Matter

New ones I'll be looking forward to are:
* Green Hell VR
* Wallace and Gromit VR
* Ghostbusters VR
* BoneLab
* Red Matter 2
* The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2
* Moss 2

So for me it's keeping me pretty engaged, yeah I enjoy longer games too but I get that from the PCVR (using Virtual Desktop, wireless) and playing Skyrim or Fallout 4 in VR is something else!

I suppose at the end of the day, it's all about taste, and, well... I dont seem to have any! hehehe

Ghostbusters and Moss 2 catch my eye, the others... Meh... I have Red Matter, and, it bored the literally tits off me so much so even they ended up in a drawer alongside the headset!

Sun, 01 May 2022, 04:11

No, not really my type of game, but used to be, I mean, I loved the likes of SimCity, Theme Park/Hospital, quite enjoyed Sid Meier's SimGolf back in the day, but now I play these type of management styleeee games, I fizzle out within half and hour!

Honestly, I'm my own pest when it comes to it! hehehe
