Socoder -> Off Topic -> Two Jobs

I've been offered two jobs... Been driving me crazy to make decision, trying to do the old pros and cons list... Harder than I thought! I know I should be happy to get the offers but I feel like I'm at a crossroads!

Good luck making the decision.
Would it help to make a third column, "what if I didn't take this job"

You've got to choose the one that'll give you the most enjoyment/happiness - not the best paid one. I've been in my job for 30years now - it's crap pay, but I enjoy the job.

Good luck

If you like to do an experiment:

When going to sleep, this night, say with your thoughts: "When i wake up, i will know which job to take."
Do this few times (at least 3 times in the exact same wording), in a sense to have a dream which will bring you the solution.

When you have said it, while relaxing into sleep, try to feel confidence that a solution will come up.

Edit: This i think is important as well:
If you want to solve problems through dreaming, then when you wake up, do not dismiss it as "not working".
When you wake up, and you do not have the surety of which one to take, then do it few times in a week.

Sometime the answer may come in your waking state. So be alert to the signs, which may be very subtle.

Go with your gut, you know what's best for you, and as a general rule of thumb, like people have stated, the higher the pay, the more shittier the job probably is, or the more responsibility in the job which makes it more shitty.

Like, many people have good little jobs, but go out for more money, only natural, but then, the work/life balance goes tits up, when I was at the Nissan plant, I had to work amongst their engineer managers in different sections and shops... They might of been on £70k+ a year flat, with great pensions... But one common thing about them all was... They were all as sick as fuck.

In my time there, they went through three, yes, three fire engineer managers, it was too much for a role with only one person, but, it was for us as well as fire maintenance contractors, it seemed everytime a new one started for the first 6 months or so we'd have to go through all the systems with them, and there is a lot, so, chucking that on them, as well as the admin stuff going on in regards to updates within the plant, constant H&S, getting called in out of hours due to [Nissan speak] "thermal incidents", they realised it wasnt a "cosy" position, in fact, the second one nearly cost him his marriage because he was never home... I even said to him when he started "Hi, I'm Mick, and I wouldnt have your job for all the golden gooses in the world", he laughed!

Anyhoo, good luck, and all in all... Nice to be wanted!

Thanks all!

I've worked at both companies, one is a bank, the other is a government department... one is offering slightly more money (more with the bonus), but the other one is "better" role (architect vs senior dev).

Maybe I'll just flip a coin

Sounds incredibly important, either way.
I'd go for the one in which I'd be least to blame, when the company inexplicably loses billions, overnight!
My guilty conscious wouldn't let me sleep for months if that happened, even if it had nothing to do with me.

Be fine... Mark Zuckenhousen is losing billions with that Meta universe bollocks, and he seems alright!
