I never want to see a switch boot up again

grr...

Next week, I have final exams. The last two weeks I was on break. I don't really remember a lot of what we need to know next week. This week, our network crashed. This week, I've so far missed two whole days of school troubleshooting said network because its my unpaid responsibility. We still have not fixed the problem.

Here's how our network is structured on a basic level (connected items in the subsections):
- Main Router - all the servers/switches go through here
-- IDF in the room (via fiber)
-- IDF upstairs (via fiber)
-- IDF in another building (via fiber)
-- IDF leading to other parts of the school not in my program (via fiber)

The IDF in the other building reported a hardware fault. The IDF upstairs was spamming packets and not booting in the correct order (wrong switch took master), IDF in the other building generated a loopback connection, and the one in the room was just fine. Along with all this, a trojan horse was detected on many computers.

After much diagnosis, all these incidences turned out to be mutually exclusive from one another. There was no correlation. They were all simultaneous. It was one gigantic bloody coincidence.

Please, if you see in the newspapers "crazed senior rips network infrastructure from walls and throws out window", don't be alarmed.

power mousey
or maybe "crazed senior jumps over wall and mauls
networks and techs in process. Un-related to tiger
attack at San Francisco Zoo."

Hope you fix these things and coincidences.
Stupid bloody networks.
