hmmm, for a table to communicate with an unplugged hard drive, wouldn't the drive need to have a battery? seems a waste of a battery to me.

"So... this is the future."

'fraid so, my friend.

spinal, yeah that does look a little strange. Perhaps the harddrive of the future will have immediate wireless access, and communicate with the table that way.

I was thinking that, once the person put the coffee cup on the table, the table was heating the bottom of the cup, thus making it warmer, to whatever temp you wanted. Now that would be neat. It would also be neat if the table worked like a touchscreen, so you could then examine the files on that harddrive of yours.

You wouldn't want to spill your coffee on it, hey

LOL. That'd be like in Star Trek where all their fancy assed touchscreen LCARS panels inexplicably explode all over the place

I don't need a computer table to tell me how hot my coffee is. I'm sure I can do a better job at that myself.

When I put my phone down I do so because I'm not using it and also don't intend to use it for the next hour (at least). So why would I want it to list my contacts?

Listing contents of my hard disk, I guess I might have a use for it occasionally. But I'd rather be able to put it on my TV or PC and then have that instantly gain full access to it. They can do more then just list it's contents.

Connecting devices together (like my mobile contacts to my e-mail ones) is the future, agreed. But this looks a lot like it's trying to solve problems that just do not exist.

Finally people have tried to reinvent table computers/screens multiple times over the last few decades. The sad truth is that people don't like staring down at their tables.

Good point JL. I have seen quite a few weird designs for computer desks. It seems most like to have the keyboard and mouse under the main desk section, but it just doesn't work too well. I like my keyboard and mouse fully accessible... although sometimes its hard to find space for other papers too.
