Got the startings of the GUI ready tonight. Event sapces have some okay textures on them now, as opposed to just flat colour.

The GUI Needs player images, etc inside it though.

Thanks, It's hopefully going to continue to be fairly cutesy and stuff, although now is time to clean up the whole house, I'm hoping to get a few more hours in tonight.

Didn't get as much done as I wanted to tonight but I've added some actual scoring and snazzy particle effects and a bitmap font for once, Unity doesn't directly do any nice font styling.

Actaully getting the bitmap font to display the correct score was nice and easy thankfully.

The camera has been zoomed out a bit to allow the player to see more of the play area when choosing their direction at junctions. It's probably a bit too zoomed in currently even.

Coming along nicely! How about those minigames, though? Or have you any alternative ideas? It doesn't have to be minigames, you know!!

Thanks Jay

I think I'll be more focusing on minigames once the main board is completed and CPU Players are involved properly on the screen.

Good point though, that it doesn't have to be all about the minigames.

It would be nice to add some sort of tactical play involved on the board itself.

Maybe making the board have dynamic features, such as changable tiles / markers so you could atempt to screw over other players.

E.G. You can drop a trap on a marker and the next player who travels over it loses some fish / you get some of their fish.

Turn limited Really Good / Bad Squares?

You could win items from the event spaces or mini games even? That would change how the game's palyed on the board perhaps.

Lots to think about that's for sure

4 players and CPU movement GET!

Just hope to blimey that they don't land on the same space as they just overlap each other, eurghh..nasty. Tomorrow perhaps

Well, tonight went well, apologies if these nightly updates are bugging people by the way, but it really helps keep me motivated on this project, each day, get a small goal achieved, yaddayadda.

The pengs can be on the same space without colliding with each other everywhere and I got the camera to transition smoothly between player turns. Tomorrow night I'm going to try to nail down the display of the dice, moves left and some other camera delays that are needed to show off when a player lands on a special space.

No screenie as it looks the same really, just handles things in motion a bit nicer. Might sort out some other GUI announcements to show it's player x's turn.

It's great getting daily reports of your progress, and it probably makes a change from people hearing about SpikeDislike every day

Sounds so much fun, so far, and that's without any minigames or anything.
I can't wait to see what angle you eventually decide to take.

Thanks dude, I love hearing about spike dislike too! I'm still undecided which way to go with the meat of the game as yet. If I can't decide I'll just make different levels, so each one can have it's own theme, that'll sort that out probably

Bonked out another few quick ones, jesters hat, top hat and a simple pointed hat. Loving hats myself at the moment They're fun and easy to make, also, possibly unlockable things?

Sleepy tonight, so, here's a build for ya instead of just a pic.

In terms of hats, we've got the 4 in there so far and:

Crown
Straw Hat
Jesters Hat
Top Hat

Tempted to make some jiggle bones on the Jesters Hat but, then again, maybe later NN

Sorted out another camera issue (delaying between player moves). Added profile pics and some other movement bugs today. The dice isn't ALWAYS glued onto the screen now, which looks a bit nicer.

Will add the "Kuron Cap" later on tonight

Sorted out correct display of ranking, added a certain cap and scores increment as opposed to just jump up 5 / down 3.

Triston had a quick play through the board tonight, a lil after his bed time, but that's alright

He likes it lots so I'm going to move onto some minigames, eep! We played a lot of snap over chrimstas also, so I'll probably do SnapDragons first, as it's simple enough to make and add AI to.

Here's a quick "Choose Minigame" GUI idea below.

|edit| Okay, so the GUI is working okay now and the next task I have, before I even contemplate making the mini game is going to be the safe saving and restoring of game data between scenes.

Hopefully, that'll be tomorrow

Phew! Got the transition from main board to mini game and back working so all those details, player positions, etc are restored nicely.

I still need to add a nice visual transition between scenes to cover up some of the fluff I'm doing in the background but that's one hurdle cleared.

I sketched up how Snap Dragons would look at work so I'm thinking that'll be tomorrow, and probably the next few days worth of coding.

Again, no pic as there's nothing new to see, the transitions aren't totally complete so maybe once the mini game is closer to working.

The lil guy like the idea of Snap Dragons also which is good to hear Thinking the process is going to be along the lines of the following:

  • Transition to Mini Game
  • Display Overview, Controls and GUI for start / practice mode
  • Mini game gets played
  • Transition to Results Screen
  • Transition Back to Board Game

Made the scene transitions nice and smooth tonight and begun planning the GUI for the minigames, should be fun, hopefully a nice screenshot tomorrow.

|update| Here's a quickie android build if anyone wants to test it out so far. Seems to run okay on my S3 but I haven't tried it out on anything else yet.
